RIght click on the desktop, and select properties. Select the Screensaver tab, and then click on the power button on the lower right.
Now, select the hibernate tab. Please check if the checkbox is selected to enable hibernation.
Also a reason, why you are not able to hibernate is beacuse you dont have the required space to save all the applications....
Hope this answers your question!

@ Adnan - Hibernate option doesnot work at few instances only.. Hence there is no doubt that hibenate checkbox is selected...
And i have more than 2 GB of free space on windows (C:\) drive... So space also doesnot seem to be the cause of the problem...

the problem, i suppose, is either with your keyboard drivers or you have not chosen what to do when you press the hibernate button.
or may be this service is not started auto.
just check out all the local servicesFriday, May 25, 2007 4:30 PM -
if nothing works out and hibernate option is very important for you then you can simply put you XP cd and repair your XP it will take about 25 mins and your errors in XP will get corrected without any change in your installed programs and settingsFriday, May 25, 2007 7:33 PM
