office product key. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently purchased a new Sony Vaio laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium installed.  When I attempt to open any office product it requests a product key.  I can read the key clearly on the label affixed to the laptop however it says the key is incorrect.  Please help as I can only use some applications a few more times.

    Thank you

  • Hi,

i think you are taking about preinstalled office 2007 package.

if it is so, then you you need to purchase the Office 2007 key from microsoft. cause what you have got is a trial Sfotware that works for 60 days.

Vista OS key will not work here.

Is this software you purchased secondary after purchasing the laptop or did the software come with your computer? You probably have a trial version installed.

  • The software came with the computer.  No where in the documentation does it say that Vista is a trial version.  Of course it doesn't say it isn't either.

Did you pay extra for MS Office 2007 @ the time of purchase? If not I would be willing to bet this is a trial version installed for your review. In turn if you like the product then you can purchase the product :-).  Here is a link which will explain trial versions and converting them:  http://us1.trymicrosoftoffice.com/faq.aspx?culture=en-US. If you have other questions please post here:  http://www.microsoft.com/office/community/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.office.setup&lang=en&cr=US.  This forum is for Office Genuine Advantage assistance. The other forum link will offer assistance for general office questions. Hope this helps.
