Claims based authentication RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I understand Claims based authentication can be deployed without ADFS, however all the documentation referring to Claims based for CRM 2011 i've come across is in context of IFD where ADFS is necessary. We are seeking to implement Claims based authentication in a non-IFD deployment, would appreciate if anyone could point in any direction where if ADFS is not necessary or in fact it is indeed a minimum requirement?

    Please advise..much appreciated :)

  • Howdy,

You need some sort of secure token service. AFDS is one of them, but you could use others.

    Hope this helps,

  • You can setup claims-based authentication using ADFS without having to configure IFD.  As per the video and whitepaper, all you would do is create a relying party for internal access only.

I would recommend using ADFS 2.0 as your token provider purely because it is well documented to work in the CRM 2011 world.  However, having said that, it may not be the best.
