  • Question

  • Hi All,

Can we use MSCRM 4.0 VPC (which is provided as download from Microsoft) for developing a new MSCRM Project, if yes what are the pros and cons of using it as the development environment.

  • I do all of my development on VPCs.  The pros for me are:

    • One VPC per client, so I can keep a completely mirrored copy of the client's environment
    • With an appropriately configured machine (I have a dedicated dev server) I can run several VPCs at once and switch between as I skip from project to project
    • Save points (or whatever they're called) - an roll back the entire VPC if something goes horribly wrong
    • The entire development environment can be backed up easily
    • Differening disks make it easy to build a "base" environment from which all dev VPCs inherit

    I see no cons.
