HP EX495 & WHS 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have and HP EX495 running V1 of WHS.  The server was purchase in 2010.  I have not been able to tell if it is a 64bit processor.  The only upgrade "OEM" that I have been able t find is the  64 bit version of WHS 2011.  Can anyone tell me if WHS v1 sp3 is a 64bit operating system.  Sorry if this is a dumb question but I thought I would ask before leaping from the ledge.

  • WHS1 was based on WS2003Rs--a 32-bit OS.

Some Googling says the CPU in the EX495 is a Intel Pentium Processor Dual Core 2.5 GHz. Some processors in that series were 64-bit capable. IIRC this is one of the 64-bit capable ones. But your machine, at 2GB RAM, is at the minimum for WHS11. And bear in mind there is no "upgrade" path to WHS11. You will have to erase everything from the machine to get to WHS11.
