Forum date localisation error RRS feed

  • Question

  • If you look at any thread on this forum, to the right you will see a Thread Statistics block which includes the fields 'Started' and 'Last Reply'.

I presume these fields are supposed to contain dates but instead they contain gibberish with the month and day elements reversed. I realize that this 'middle-endian' notation is considered rational in North America where it constitutes a valid date format. However in 192 out of 196 countries in the world this arrangement of numbers does not represent a valid date format.

To fix it you should either add an English (rather than American) language option to the forum, which would be the most correct solution since you would then be able to provide an English (rather than American) page translation in addition to correct localisation formatting. Or alternatively a simpler fix would be to express the date in a valid ISO 8601 format, such as yyyy-mm-dd.
