SyncToy erroneous over-writes of files with timestamps shifted by Daylight Savings Time RRS feed

  • Question

  • SyncToy selects many files for overwrite that have not changed.  Their timestamps are shifted by 1 hour due to daylight savings time.  Is there a way to have it ignore timestamp shifts due to Daylight Savings Time.  The files are typically between external hard drives or USB drives and the internal HDD.

  • Hi,

Even though the actual time stamp is not changed for a file, only the view is changed by Windows based on operation system version. Can you see if "Automatically Adjust for Daylight Saving Time" option is selected.  Un fortunately, you can not filter out files based on time stamp using Sync toy.

  • Too bad; without that option I believe there is no chance that file sync will ever work without daylight-saving issues! Remember my words if it still makes troubles in ten years... the probability that two files with same length but a one hour time shift are identical is maybe even higher than for two files with the same time stamp and the same size...  YUST IGNORE THIS DIFFERENCE!
