ASP.NET 2.0 or 4.0 ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I want to study for certification in ASP.NET, however I cannot decide if V2.0 will be better for me rather than jumping straight to 4?

    Here's some background:

Extensive experience with Framework 1.1, fair experience of v2.0 and some ad-hoc use of 3.5 when it has been required. My thinking is that v2.0 was quite a major upgrade to the Framework and due to my current role requiring me to work with VB6 ( ouch! ) - I've fallen behind somewhat!

Do you think its worth me learning v2.0 and then upgrading in the future - this is what my gut instinct is telling me... would like some advice please.

    Cheers,

    Mike

  • Hi Mike,

Fallen behind? I have that feeling every year ;-) Everytime i master one objective a new one is born and í have to start firing up to keep up.

If you don't mind the extra time and money for upgrading i'd say go for 70-536. This is for .Net 2.0 and will give you a very strong base certification. After that go for the upgrade. If you do mind the extra time and money go straight for .net 4.0.

I'd personally have to say that although not easy 70-536 gave me a very good insight and foundation.
