cannot connect to home server on a restore operation RRS feed

  • Question

  • I cannot connect to my home server for diaster recovery. When I am in windows environment, I am connected. It backs up and I can log onto its console.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I copied every .sys, .dll., cant remember the other suffix. to a thumb drive from my motherboard installation cd.

Upon a restore, it claims to find drivers ok,  then it cannot find the server.

    Hardware on my pc:

    Gigabyte 790FXA-UD5

    AMD 1090T  X6

    BFG GTX295

    LG DVD, LG Blu ray

    3 WD HDs,  300Gig Velociraptor, 1 Terrabyte Black series,  500 Gig RE3

    Home server has:

    Foxconn A7GM-S 2.0

    AMD Callisto 3.2Ghz Black edition

    LG dvd

Inside the windows environment it works like a champ, with my wifes and my pc.  I have tried unplugging the plug from the main internet leaving my LAN intact as was suggested concerning Home server naming conventions.  That did not work either.

    I understand I need 32 bit drivers.

    1.  how to extract from a executable driver file from gigabyte website.

    2. What file exactly do I need?

Please help. I am almost bald from tearing my own hair out.........     Thank you.

  • Though I can't find that exact model on the Gigabyte US web site, your motherboard probably has a Realtek NIC. Please see this FAQ for information on how to update drivers for restore. Or, if it seems easier for you, see this FAQ for an alternate method of restoring that computer's hard drive.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
