Share on specified drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • My WHS runs on two disks, an internal drive of 1TB and the total storage is extended with a 500GB external drive.  So now I have 1,5TB storage.

However I prefer the internal drive for an important and big share (Apple's Time Machine) but it is stored now on the (slower) external drive. The add-in 'Duplication Info' shows this information.

Since the external disk extension all my newly created files on the shares (Duplication Off) are on the external drive. Is it possible to make a share on a specified (internal) drive?

  • Hello,
maybe it works, if you unplug the external disk before creating that shared folder within the console.

The other, not supported and not recommended option would be to login to the server directly or via remote desktop, create a folder there, share it manually and adjust the share and ntfs permissions manually. Since this share is not under control of the WHS console, this is not the best solution, especially if it is a drive included in the storage pool.
