Renewed suggestion for a user-selected "Move To" selection box. RRS feed

  • Question

  • As a Moderator I move posts fairly often.

Mostly to another more appropriate forum in the same set of forums and otherwise to Off-Topic.

I thus need a Move To dropdown containing ca 10 forums. Instead I get an extremely long list of all the TechNet forums.

More than half the entire time that doing a Move takes is taken up by zooming down this long list (quickly by not too quickly so I don't go past the entry) to find the right entry. I know roughly where the one I want is but I still need to do a long zoom down (both options are in the bottom quarter) and stop at it.

The request therefore is a user-defined list for the Move To dropdown.

    - The basic request is for this to contain only forums within the same major set (i.e. TechNet / MSDN / Microsoft etc.)

    - The enhanced request is for it to contain any forum from any major set.

I'd be happy just with the basic version!

  • Another solution would be a text-box that filter forums based on what you type.

IE: If you type "Vis", the list of suggestion would only contains forums that have a word beginning by "Vis" in their name. If you continue to type, e.g. "Visual B", you'll quickly find the Visual Basic .NET forum, even if you didn't know the name of the forum previously.

A custom list would need additionnal server settings, while a textbox would require no.
