problems after renaming default.aspx file in sharepoint

  hello
  
  i want to rename the default.aspx in the sharepoint. in the url instead of default.aspx i want a name relevant with the site purpose. but aftar i changed the name from default.aspx to DataEngineeringHome.aspx, the tree view is not working any more. whn i click the tree view, or quicklaunch link.. its showing as "page not found ". actually its going to http://MyPersonalSite/default.aspx instead of going to http://MyPersonalSite/DataEngineeringHome.aspx
  
  how can i rename the file and yet let the url take the new chnaged address by itself instead of default.aspx.
