Multiple NTFS Error Event 55 every hour - which disk? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm now getting the following error in my event log - it appears 8 or 9 times every 65 minutes (give or take 5 minutes). I'm assuming there is a problem with one of my disks - however I have 20 disks in my system: 1 is labelled SYS and the other 19 as DATA - how do I tell which disk is responsible for the error so I can replace it?

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Ntfs
    Event Category: Disk
    Event ID: 55
    Date: 11/08/2009
    Time: 03:06:39

    Description:
The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume DATA.

  • Hi,
eventually the Add-In WHS Diskmanagement can help you.
This allows to check the SMART health information and shows the serial number (which you should be able to find also on the physical drive sticker).
    Best greetings from Germany
    Olaf
