Is it possible to recover files deleted by SyncToy? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Just set up a new folder pair to synchronise a directory of files from drive E: to drive F:. Obviously got something wrong in the setup. Instead of copying the 197, they were deleted from E:. 12 of them are in the recycle bin, I can't find the rest. Got the error report "cannot write to the destination file. The destination is not empty. (Exception from HRESULT 0X80070091) deleting folder E:\..........

Any way of getting the 197 files back?

    Please help.

  • I am sorry for you data lost, if you could not find the files from recycle bin, I am afraid you need to restore them through some data recover tools.
Before you restored your file, please not write new files on that disk, that will help you restore the deleted files as many as could.

    Thanks,
    Ping

  • Thank for your help Ping. I managed to recover the files with iolo Search & Recover. Filenames were all changed though - but at least I got the files back.

  • Comes up easily on a search engine, about $30/year, though I won't post link so as not to be mistaken for a bot ;-)

Do you remember the filenames that they were changed to, or extensions?
