Forums -Unexpected Error!

Question
-
Repeated "Message from webpage" - "Unexpected error". when submitting a post.
This happens in batches. In most cases the browser has to be closed then the web page reconnected and the post attempted again. It has happened most frequently since the last major update to the site. (last Thursdy update in July)
The issue has been worse in last two days. More than 10% of the attempts to submit have errored.
What does "Message from web page" mean anyway. There is no error and no error numer.

Yes - I have been doing that for months while waitiong for this and othere issues to be fixed. I am posting this so that the developers and monitors will know that the problem stil exists.
Since you posted a response I am going to assume that it is happening to you. Thanks for the response. Maybe if enough of us make note of this it will get fixed. Having to alway copy everything to the clipboard before submitting is a real headache.

+1
I am experiencing this issue as well. However, it's sporadic in nature. If I reply to 10 different threads in a day, I get this "unexpected error" one or two times. Sometimes, I even got errors, when I click on "propose as answer" or "vote as helpful".

I have been patient. I am losing patience.
At times it is nearly impossible to type even a line or two and "submit" without "error!". I can see that many are leaving the forum because they cannot successfully submit anything. This is becoming so aggravating that I suspect I will eventually give up too.
We, many of us, have been asking for some respite from this issue for months and no one has even admitted that there is an issue.
Please fix the software for this forum.
Should we submit this to CNN news as "The Bug that MIcrosoft Could Not Cure" or "How Microsoft Melted Down the Internet"
Please people...fix this.

Agree with jrv.
This "unexpected error" is very weird. Sometimes, it's impossible to post a reply no matter you do. At times, I had to sign out and sign in back to post a reply, this is frustrating !

UPDATE:
Windows 8/IE10 - brand new out-of-box on all new hardware. System initializes and all Windows Updates completed. Attempted to access The Scripting Guys Forum and edit a post. Same errors as above. For three days errors persisted. Now they are gone for the time being.

+1 again :-) Win 8 Pro/IE 10 as well.
It started again (for me) a week ago or so, and is sporadic.
I've also noticed substantial pauses after hitting the Submit button before my reply is either accepted or errors out.

Same here, but not in every forum. Say, in this forum it is usually quick and without errors while in Transact-SQL forum it takes ~20-30 seconds to post and often I have two errors in a row before third Sumbit works.

Right now and last few hours I keep getting this error (sometimes multiple times) when I try to post in my forums. I have to click on Submit button several times and waste minutes on one post.

I signed out and back it hoping it will improve situation, but it didn't. I got Internal Server Error trying to access 'My Threads'. I'm going to close for the day, hopefully I will not get that same torturing problem tomorrow.

Yes, this error occurs only when my answers are marked. Posting is fine so far.
The other problem is that my replies are shown as un-read. It will be nice if this bug will be fixed also.

I saw a post from Ed saying that the "unread' issue had been reported and was being worked on. I, too, have that issue.
I do not know what you mean by getting an error on "marked". I don't think I have seen that. Perhaps a bit more of a description would help.

See this thread http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/reportabug/thread/6862b448-1e9a-4b6d-a93c-8545794907a3
and the thread referenced in it and a few more in this forum on that topic. Every day I send new samples of this problem to fissues and I haven't received a single response for a long time.
Every day at least 3 of my replies are being marked but without a history and therefore I don't get my points for the answer.

I have not experienced and error when marking a response. I have just noticed that my points are not incrementing. I don't pay much attention to points (never much cared for contests) so I did not notice it before now.
There needs to be a scoreboard for reported issues similar to connect. Connect is not a good forum for portal issues as it seems tuned more to products. These forum need their own tally roster.
