USB drives again - can I copy backups to a USB drive - then allow WHS to delete them? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Or doesn't it work like that?

I have limited HDD "server storage" space (50GB) on IDE (old motherboard - 1x60GB; 1x 80GB) but a large USB2 drive with photobackups etc on I don't want to move but with 150GB spare space?

    Thanks

    Mel P

PS I have PIII / 450MHz PC with 512MB of memort backing up 3 pcs - going great!

  • WHS manages your backups for you. While they are stored in files, and those files can be accessed (if you know where they really are), they aren't stored as one file (or set of files) for a particular PC's backups. So what you want to do isn't really possible.

  • Hi,

As Ken said, more reading is good in this link:

The backup system seems like magic. How does it work?

    My best.
