Windows Live OneCare - virus & spyware monitoring

Hi - I am not able to keep my virus & spyware monitoring on consistently. It seems to turn off each time I power off my computer. It will ususally turn on eventually by itself, but recently it will increasingly/more frequently not turn on at all. Is there something I can do to fix this?
