Access wordpress from own and public network RRS feed

  • Question

  • Install wordpress and work fine.

I change the wordpress address url and blog address to http://servername,homeserver.com/blog

Can access blog out on the internet and edit it. When I  try to open it within my home network, everything appear on the left hand side.  When I try to log into it add more info it won't let me.

If I let the wordpress address url and blog address to http://servername/blog it work okay within my network but you can't access out on the web.

is there a way I can access my blog and edit it both within ny own network as well as out on the Internet?

  • I have a feeling Wordpress hardcodes the URL into its pages (and your router doesn't support loopback). Thus when it requests for pages inside your network, it looks to servername.homeserver.com and never finds anything. And obviously if you set it to your internal servername, external users don't know what that machine is.

Some way you need Wordpress to not hardcode its URL, but I don't know enough about the code to see whether that is feasible
