Temporary Internet files not deleting

Question
-
Performance on my 64bit AMD R3000 Compaq has been declining. Norton anti-virus was taking forever to scan. Hidden sub folders were apparent in my temporary internet files folder. Two of these folders I discovered by watching the Norton scan path and filenames. I deleted 50MB worth of ~.emf files from one folder. I found another 50MB of various file types in another folder. I then used a CMD line prompt to scan for more hidden folders and files. The dir/s command listed 46036 files taking up 9.4GB of space. These files had not cleared out with disk cleanup or delete all off-line content.
I believe I've discovered a vulnerability and think it possibly useful that I share this information with the community.
All the best,
/Rob
These files are not visible using Windows file manager.
Attempting to delete files and sub folders from the Temporary Internet Files folder is giving me "access denied" and other errors.
for example:
\Content.IE5\K3AE6V83 contains a file called cavillgallery[1].htm that I cannot deleteSome files had hidden and system attributes. It took a while but I think I have this cleared out. Used a Command prompt and much time.

I'm running Microsoft Windows XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 2 on an Hewlett-Packard HP Compaq dc 7100 SFF (PC923A) Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00GHz 0.99 GB RAM. I'm logged on as Administrator (profile). I use the IE7 Beta 3 browser. My problem is this: on the 6th of this month (August) 2006 I noticed that the attributes for the Temporary Internet Files folder had been changed to hidden and therefore I can't delete what I can't see. In the Windows Explorer, Folder Options I have marked "show hidden files and folders", and I have gone in safe mode but I can not change this attribute to view. I have tried the disk clean from the XP OS with the same results and a program 4Diskclean also to receive the same results. I do allot of banking (did, stopped now) and I really don't find it all too funny (I'm still smiling though) that I don't have control as the administrator. I pray I have given you a good idea as to the issue at hand. I also pray that this is Genuine Advantage specific.
