  • Just installed windows 8. Now I can't locate my Office suite of programs..eg Word, Excel etc. Does this mean I have to purchase it again?

  • If you had it on the machine before you upgraded to Winodws 8, it does not mean that you have to purchase it again, but you may need to reinstall it.

I upgraded from windows 7 to windows 8 and the upgrade installation maintained all of my installed software.    If word and excel dont appear on your start screen, the first thing you should try is just to start typing and windows 8 will search all of your start programs.  Just type 'word' into the start screen and see if it shows up.

Also, a quick bing search on "windows 8 upgrade paths" found me this link, which describes the various upgrade paths to windows 8, depending on which version of windows you upgraded from: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj203353.aspx#paths.  If you did an upgrade installation, you may have to reinstall software depending on what version of windows you upgraded from.
