SQLExpressSyncProvider-ClientId and SQL 2008 Change Tracking RRS feed

  • Question

  • Where is the Client GUID stored on the client when using integrated SQL Server Change Tracking?

    ...from this article:
"How to: Use SQL Server Change Tracking"

The first time any table is synchronized by using a method other than snapshot synchronization, Sync Services stores a GUID value on the client that identifies that client.

Do I have to implement creation, storing and retrieval of ClientId if I am writing a custom ClientSyncProvider (SQL Express 2008 also using Change Tracking)?

  •  No, I did not receive/find an answer to the highlighted statement.
I do this manually: each of my "clients" has a table that holds it Id. Then My Client Sync Provider simply reads that table during getClientId. I am using a modified version of the SQL Express client Sync Provider.
