product code is no good, counterfeit or what?? RRS feed

  • i have a 5 year old emachine (model et1352g-03w) that i copied the product code into the microsoft word verification box.  i had never gotten around to doing this before.  is it too late or do i have a counterfeit code?  the machine was purchased at fry's and is refurbished, according to the sticker on the bottom. i am running windows 7 home premium 64 bit.

  • From where did you get the Product Key for Office?

    The COA sticker on the case of the machine is almost always for Windows and not Office, and cannot therefore activate Office.

    Most Office pre-installs on machines are trial versions with limited usage allowances - you will almost certainly need to purchase a license to be able to use Office, and it's likely that you would need to uninstall the current version first before installing the new one.
