OEM is no longer valid after installing cloned hard disk on original computer RRS feed

  • Question

  • I changed hard disks to a backed up clone. I followed the instructions on this forum and re-activated the product key. This was good for a month then the Windows 7 not Genuine popped up again. Windows 7 was OEM from Lenovo. I attached the Diagnostic report. Please let me know what I can  do to fix this.

    Thanks in advance.

  • The product key in use is not one you entered.  It is the self-activating OEM SLP key.  Try entering the product key from the COA label affixed to your computer.  Click Start, type "activate", and enter the COA key.

  • Colin,

I couldn't find the COA sticker on the botton of my computer so I ran a freeware to find it. The product key it gave me was wrong. This forum suggested to look under the battery. It was there. I used that and every thing is good now.

    Thank you very much, Herb
