SQL server 2008 Certification advise

Question
-
Hi All,
I am currently working on sql server 2005 database development which involves writing sp's, triggers etc. No certifications so far. so,would like to start looking at them from now on. after a bit of browsing, sql server 2012 is the latest one and sql server 2008(70-433 , for my skill set) expires on Jul'13. I need your advise on whether to prepare for 2008 course though it expires next year or to go for 2012 exam. currently i can see there isnt much material available for 2012 exam.
Thanks in advance

It really depends on whether you'll be moving to 2008 or 2012 in the next 3-6 months. If you're moving to 2008 I would recommend doing 70-433. If you're moving to 2012 I'd recommend doing 70-461 (The training kit is scheduled for release on 10 December 2012 and some great study material can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=27721 and http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/6982.sql-server-2012-developer-training-kit-bom-en-us.aspx#Module_1_Introduction_to_SQL_Server_2012)
BTW, although the 70-433 expires in July 2013, your certification will always be valid as it will not expire.

I would agree with Mr. Wharty. Do you need help getting certified? I work as an Education Consultant for IT professionals and would be happy to help you figure out the best path. It does come down to whether you will be moving to 2012 soon. You can email me at candaceb @ unitkeducation.com (remove spaces) for more details or call me directly at 510-896-7543.
