How can I change the "retain changes temporarily" warning time? RRS feed

  • Question

  • If the disk protection is preset to "retain changes temporarily" it appears the following warning.

    The warning appears at the preset time for 10 minutes and then restarts the computer. That is all right, but can I change the display duration? So that the warning appears only for a few seconds and the computer restarts immediately.

  • Hi,

    You can change the delay, but the warning will be displayed for the entire delay time.

    Here's the registry value that controls this delay (the value is not present by default; if the value is not present, SteadyState defaults to 10 minutes).

    [HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Windows SteadyState\Parameters]
    "MinutesBeforePersistReboot"=dword:10

    Hi, we cannot change this in Windows SteadyState UI. Please understand that if we do not give users enough time, they are not able save their work on the computer and the warning message can be meaningless. If you want to disable such warning message, we can try to remove bubble.exe from msconfig – startup items.
