  • Hi,

MCPD is higher level certification than MCTS. MCTS is usually technology specific, e.g. MCTS 70-515 (web application development using ASP.NET) is technology specific and question are related to ASP.NET (Webforms + MVC) whereas MCPD is a bit more comprehensive certification with pre-requisute containing number of MCTS certifications.

I have explain this all in one of my blog post as this is one of the FAQs. Check it out.

    Microsoft Certification Overview [Update 2011]

You would definitely start with MCTS level relevant paper and then to MCPD track. Check out details of Visual Studio certifications at

    Hope this helps.
