New thread information line RRS feed

  • Question

  • In the most recent forum update, the status of each thread (Discussion, Unanswered, Answered...) has been added to the start of the "information" line that contains Replies, Views, Created by and Last Reply. Some observations:

    1. To me this seems redundant, because this information is already contained in the icon.

    2. Furthermore, the addition of this information increases the probability that the information line will wrap. Wrapping is bad, because it fragments the only pieces of useful information in this line, namely the name of the OP and last responder, and (most important) the link to the last reply.

    3. Strangely, this new item is a link of some kind, but clicking it seems to simply reload the page. What is the purpose of this?

  • Clicking the status filters the view. If you click 'Unanswered', you'll only see unanswered threads, and if you click 'Proposed', you'll only see threads with a proposed answer, etc.

Ah yes, so it does. But in my opinion, this is very poor design. That line is thread-specific -- it should not have features that pertain to the whole view.

I just do not see the point of this new "feature".
