  • You cannot install OneCare on Windows 7. It is not a supported operating system. You will need to seek an alternative for now. In the near future, the successor to OneCare, Microsoft Security Essentials, will be released and it will work on Windows 7. For now, use Avast or Avira, both free. MSE will also be free when it is released.

  • So... since my Windows Live One Care subscription goes until Feb 10th, 2010, do I get a refund? I mean, if Microsoft makes their own products incompatible with their flagship OS that they beg us to buy and upgrade to, they da#mn well better refund my money!

  • That's why they produced the new Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) anti-malware application and are providing it for free.

Combined with everything already designed into Windows 7, you really don't need OneCare anymore since Windows 7 itself now provides backup, firewall, simple printer sharing and automation of defragmentation.

For more about MSE see the posts at the top of this or the General forums.
