Logical AND not working in the forum search box

Question
-
Logical AND of search terms does not seem to be working in the MSDN forum search box. Example: I go to the Project Customization and Program forum and type the word
subproject
in the search box. I get a lot of hits. So now I try to reduce the number of hits by typing
subproject AND read
Surprisingly, I now get MORE hits than before. The same thing happens if I enter
subproject & read
Do the MSDN forums not support the standard logical AND combinations of search terms? If they do support these combinations, what is the syntax?

Hi Jim,
There is no support for AND searching using the forum search tool. You can search for an exact string by enclosing it in quotes though (this is brand new functionality, before we only had pure OR, even if you quoted your query).

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the quick response. I hope that Microsoft will continue to upgrade the forum search tool. It's great exact-string match is working, and I'd vote for logical AND as the next important upgrade that would help lots of us make good use of the forum. After logical AND, my next vote would be logical NOT.

Cheers, you're welcome.
There's a thread going in the Suggestions forum with plenty more requests for updates to the search tool. You may want to add your voice there too:
