Office Version for Running Excel on the Cluster RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've read that the version that must be used for offloading Excel workbooks on the cluster must be "Excel 2010 Professional Plus".  AFAIK, there is no Professional Plus version of Excel, but rather professional plus version of "Office 2010", which just includes extra applications.

So, my question is, which would be the Excel versions that would work for Excel calculations on the cluster?

    Thanks.

  • Hi scorpiotek,

You can use any install of Excel 2010 for offloading workbooks or UDFs to the cluster.

The documentation you saw refers to a defunct plan for Excel to be released in two editions, one of which would include support for UDF offload and one of which would not. As released, Excel 2010 comes in only one edition which fully supports UDF offload.

We should have removed all references to the Professional Plus requirement from our release documentation, but beta or release candidate documentation may still contain references to it. If you can provide the page that contains a reference to this requirement, we'll remove it to avoid future confusion.

    Thanks,

    Jeremy
