What do the bold and italic titles mean in forum threads?

Question

When I look at a forum, some titles are bold and some are italic... what does this treatment represent? I doesn't seem to correlate to being unread or to being answered...
Thanks
Peter

Bold means you did not view the thread before.
Italic means there have been additional posts since last time you viewed the thread.

Bold means you didn't read this thread yet. I don't think I saw italic.

I think I didn't pay enough attention - italic is harder to see than bold. Now I see italic as well.
