OCS and Nortel CS1000 4.5 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have installed OCS 2007 Standard Edition and have Mediation Server installed on a separate server.  I have configured this to talk to a Nortel CS1000 (release 4.5) on the gateway side, and set up a static SIP endpoint gateway in the Nortel CS1000 NRS pointing to the "gateway-listening" IP address on the Mediation Server.  Location profiles, Phone usages, Policies and Routes are set up, but we cannot place PSTN calls from Office Communicator.  Routes appear to be working, as when we type in numbers that do not match a route, we get error ID:14006.  The error code we are getting for valid numbers that do not work is ID:12000 after about 30 seconds attempting to place the call.  Any suggestions?

  • Nigel,

contoso.local was the test domain we set up for trial purposes so as not to modify the production AD schema.  The SOA for this domain is entered into our production DNS servers however, so all the server names resolve to their correct IPs.

Received the following from our Microsoft UC rep on this subject:

"CS1K integration into OCS is not released yet. this integration will be available in beta in a few months and will ship later on this year."

  • Further to this, here is the event log entry we see on the OCS server for every failed call:

An attempt to route to a gateway failed.

Could not route to Gateway mediation.contoso.local:5061, the attempt failed with response code: Timeout.
    Failure occurrences: 21, since 5/31/2007 11:23:08 AM.
    Resolution:
Check whether the specified gateway is up and is properly configured.

There is no event log entry on the Mediation server.

  • Even FURTHER to this, I installed a packet sniffer on the Mediation server to capture what (if anything) was being exchanged with the Nortel NRS server.  The SIP request with SDP info appears to be correctly formed and sent, and is ACKnowledged by the NRS server, but the next packet exchanged between the two states "Unknown RTP Version 0":

    00.. .... = Version: Old VAT Version (0)

Has anyone gotten public beta working with a Nortel CS1000 through Mediation server?

  • mediation.contoso.local:5061 seems a bit of a strange domain name to have on your box. Is this specified in your config anywhere?
