Live Writer and .htaccess / .htpasswd RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a domain (http://family-ties.net) where we are building out a private family newsletter.  We have protected the site with an .htaccess and .htpasswd file generated by one the "htaccess generators" out there.  While this works well to lock down the domain, Windows Live Writer no longer works!

I checked with the hosting provider (godaddy) and they had no solutions.  I am using the correct (root) path to the site in Live Writer settings, but no go.   Is there a way to add the .htaccess password to Live Writer, before it tries to connect to the site?

    Any suggestions?

  • Since xml-rpc already has security built in we don't support basic auth for the requests. You should just configure your server to no protect the xml-rpc endpoint. If you need help finding out what page that is, send me a link to your site.
