Only homepaged indexed, of 150+ pages why? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have the same problem as many others with Live search web tools.
Only the homepage is indexed by Live ...

    The site
was added several month ago to google, yahoo, ask and live search web tools.
    http://www.vietnamcharter.com

The url has been added as well as the sitmap.xml (and continously updated).
I have taken every step that the tool is guiding me to do, but with no progress.

With Google and Yahoo the results is much better.
    Google: 100+ pages
    Yahoo: 70+ pages.
Live search: 1 page (the homepage)

What am i doing wrong or whats wrong with Live search?

I have an english version of the site as well ,with more or less the same result.
    The english version:
    http://www.vietnam-charter.com

I am trying to promote my SEO knowledge to my fellow web developers, friends and customers but I have no progress to show them with Live search web tools.

I really doubt that Microsoft will be a strong player in the Internet advertisement area unless they solve these crucial issues.
Yahoo is a bit slow as well but at least they are indexing the pages in their own pace.

    Best regards,
    Anders

    Hi,

Our indexing is based on site rank. Currently your sites are ranked fairly low. I suggest reading our FAQs located at the top of the indexing and ranking forums. They provide information about how our crawler works and what you can do to successfully index your site.

    Today, Jan 2009

    For my swedish site:
    http://www.vietnamcharter.com
    Indexed pages:
    Google: 100+ pages
    Yahoo: 225+ pages.
Live search: 1 page (the homepage)

    For my english site:
    http://www.vietnam-charter.com
    Index pages:
    Google: 70+ pages
    Yahoo: 25+ pages.
Live search: 1 page (the homepage)

The situation have NOT improved and loads of other persons seems to have the same problem.

Either: We are doing something fundamentally wrong, and if thats the case I believe the instructions must be improved. Because it seems like everybody is doing wrong.
Or: There is something fundamentally wrong with live search crawler and the search engine.

From my point of view it seems that NO website ever is index for more than one page. How are you going to do business with that result, and why should we even bother about live search?

I will definitely stop using "Live search" when its clear that I only get a tiny tiny tiny tiny fraction of possible answers.
Please advice how to get out of this mess, or at least admit that the Live Search system is not working at all.

    Best Regards,
    Anders

  • So, I looked through the other 100 threads with the same problem and finally found Brent Younts answer which might be the answer that I was looking for:

    "
I can't say anything about the other engines, but our bot is somewhat picky about different types of errors." - Brent Yount.

So now I have answered my own question with a quote from Brent

Next step is to use the W3C validator, and clean the error. I guess thats the best for now.

    Thank you Anders

  • Hi Brent or anybody,

I found out about this Blocked by Rep. Could that be the issue?

    Have have now added:

    sitemap: http://www.vietnam-charter.com/sitemap.xml

    To my roboots.txt file.

Do you think this will help?
At least its validated without errors or warnings now.

    Best regards,

  • I am also having the same issues. Google is doing a fine job for my new site but Live isn't. Only the home page is indexed. As far as Im concerned if Google can crawl and index my site then Live should be able to.

Is it any wonder why Live is NOT the no.1 search engine perhaps?
