Start Client Computer from WHS

Question
-
Hi,
I have been looking around on all the forums to see if there is an add on for starting a client computer from the WHS console? This would be a great feature. The particular client is running Vista Ultimate
Also on this starting/shutting down idea, I have seen some add ins that allow you to suspend a client from the console. I would like to set a certain time in the evening that shuts down a client computer as well as starts it up before I start work in the morning. Is there something out there that facilitates this? I am interested in conserving power. I have done many searches on this topic without and satisfactory results. And it does not have to WHS related
Anyway any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lachie,
There isn't an Add-In wwhich will accomplish all you need, however most computers can have a startup time enabled in their BIOS so they will start at a pre-determined time each day.
I've used this Shutdown Timer in the past, with success, so may be worth trying. There is also AutoExit, which is an Add-In with quite a lot of Client options.

To boot a computer remotely, the computer must be properly configured for Wake On LAN, and you must use a tool capable of sending an appropriate "wake up" packet. A couple of add-ins to do this are available; probably AutoExit is as good as any.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)- Proposed as answer by Ken WarrenModerator Thursday, November 13, 2008 12:04 AM
