cannot upgrade/validate my media player frpm version 9 to 11

i have a computer i use for dj music and use windows media player often. went to update it and when it came time to validate it i am told it is not able to validate. computer is 4 years old i have no idea where the disk is when i bought the computer. please help me be able to use my media player
