No longer free subdomain name for remote access in WHS 2011? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I set up my 2011 server for remote access today, I didn't see any option for using a free homeserver.com subdomain. And if I use an existing domain, I'd have to buy a certificate that costs nearly $50 a year. Since I rarely have the need for remote access, this feature is rather expensive.

Can someone confirm that free subdomain of homeserver.com is GONE in WHS 2011? Thanks.

  • It certainly was there in 2011 RC without payment. I would be very surprised if it were taken away for RTM
