Forum activity on question dies RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a question in a forum that has had no activity for a month now.  Because of this I asked a different question in a different forum because of some of the feedback I received from the first question.  The second question has receive a lot of response.

Does someone check on question that have not been marked answered and are older than a month to find out why they are not answered?

Since I created a second question in a different forum, is there a way to close my first question or what should I do with the first discussion?

    Thanks,

    Fred Schmid

  • Hi Fred,

Each forum is moderated by different groups of people. Some forum moderators are very diligent on marking answers and some aren't.

Since you've started another thread that's actually getting some replies, I would suggest posting a link to that thread in your original question and then just marking it as the answer. That way anyone who finds your original thread sometime in the future can benefit as well.

  • I don't know the answer to your first question above, but I'd suggest that you go back to the inactive question and add a post stating basically what you said above, giving a link to the new question. You could end the post with something like: "because this thread is inactive I will mark it answered and suggest that any further discussion take place in the other thread", and then mark or suggest your own post as the answer.

Al Dunbar -- remember to 'mark or propose as answer' or 'vote as helpful' as appropriate.

  • Thanks for the answer.

I know in one forum that I asked a question, I got the answer but I still had problems so I appended my question with further questions.  I was waiting for answers when a moderator marked the answer as the answer and told me to do so because I received the answer for my original question and if I had additional questions I ask another question.  I did not mind so I accepted this suggestion and asked another question.  What I liked about it was that someone was checking on my open question.
