Live Mesh Remote Desktop Is Not Availible

Question
-
Hi there,
I have been testing Live Mesh on two machines (both windows XP SP3) for the past two weeks, my laptop and the desktop upstairs, and it was working perfect, I could sync folders and connect remotely between both machines.
Yesterday I had to reformat my Laptop, and since the reformat, the Laptop will now only sync, it can't be connected to remotely (yet it was working before the reformat)
How do I check the logs to see what the problem may be?
Also, are there any window services, ports or remote desktop services which if disbaled would effect the live mesh remote desktop facility?
Any advice or replies will be much appreciated.

Hi Ben,
I have no idea if there is a live mesh guardian angel out there, but after crashing out and waking up, I just checked my live mesh notifier and it now says the live mesh remote desktop is availible!
I still have the original log, so can still submit if you wish?
Thanks - John
Hi John,
A bug report is probably not necessary if it's working now (which likely indicates that it was a transient glitch). Should the problem ever reappear, however, please collect logs right away and submit a bug.
Thank you,

Hi!
First thing to check would be the installation of the Live Mesh remote desktop services which can usually be done by clicking on the "info" button in the live mesh notifier on the laptop. The remote desktop component should not be concerned about firewalls and ports (apart from the basic windows firewall which may say things like "this program is blocked"), because it will just default to the relayed protocol.
As for logs, you can inspect your logs by visiting the Live Mesh Logs directory which can be found, on an XP machine, under:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Live Mesh\Logs
If you would like to collect the full compliment of logs, you can do the following (from the front page):
1. Click Start.
2. Select All Programs and then the Live Mesh folder.
3. Click Collect Live Mesh Logs.
4. Your logs will be bundled together in a .cab file now located on your desktop.
Good Luck!

Oren, thanks very much for your reply.
When you say info box, do you mean top right of the notifier? as all that tells me is the version.
Do you know how to etsbalish why the Live Mesh remote desktop is not working?
Is there any info from the logs I can post, that would help?

Hi,
It sounds like you may have encountered a known issue with Live Mesh Remote Desktop (LMRD). The LMRD components are automatically installed under Windows XP, so you should not need to do anything additional to enable them. In order for us to investigate further, and help you resolve this issue, please collect your logs (with the steps outlined by Oren above) and submit a bug through Connect with the logs attached. After you have submitted your bug, please post the Connect Feedback ID here and I will follow up with the developers.
Thanks,
