High-quality Fake from eBay eligible for Complimentary Replacement Program? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Well, after reading several threads here & running the necessary diagnostic tools, I've confirmed that my 'genuine' Windows 7 Ultimate retail version purchased from eBay is definitely a fake.

It was purchased & installed several months ago, but only showed up as a blocked (MSDN apparently) key a few days ago. I think it is a high quality fake.

So regarding: Attention UK Customers Informed That Your Full Packaged Product Has A Non-Genuine Key - http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinewindows7/thread/4b6f01a4-4475-4e3b-a4e4-6ec921b785b8

Is there any chance of getting compensation if I submitted the Windows 7 box with contents, along with the necessary documents? The 'receipt' will be a print-out of the transaction from my PayPal account. It's too late to claim via PayPal as their 45-day deadline has long been passed.

    Thanks for any advice.

  • Thanks Carl_OH.

If I'm unable to get compensation directly from the seller (a long-standing 'Business' seller incidentally), I think I'll be going in for the above very soon. I guess it's worth a try even if I lose out even further in way of postage costs.

I'll keep returning to report back as it happens in this thread (as I cannot reply in the sticky).

  • This is all new to us also, please pursue the option in the above sticky and I for one would greatly appriciate it if you would report back here on your experience. We want to give advice that is helpful so input from someone who actually utilizes this option would be greatly appriciated.
