Are you sure they are blocking that specific domain name (instead of certain ports)?  If they are, my suggestion is to talk to someone in your IT department, find out why they block it, and see if they can change it.  If they are blocking it, they obviously feel some need as to why and by trying to go around it, you could be putting your job at risk.

  • You could try DynDNS or other such services. Or maybe even getting your own domain name

  • How could I get my own domain name, wouldn't that have to foward to my home server. Or are you suggesting I get a static IP and host my own?

  • Dynamic DNS services should get past the static IP issue - if they are indeed just blocking the .homeserver.com domain
