CRM 4.0 - Setting the Default Company and loading default website ? RRS feed

  • Question

  •

    Hi

We have a system with multiple tenants.

Now in the Deployment Manager you can set which tenant will be the default for the system.

When you load the CRM website's default webpage like http://crm..... it normally goes to the website that was installed first which I image to be the default.

Now when you change another tenant to be the default.... when you load the website's main page.... is it not supposed to load the new default tenant first?

    Thanks

  • Hi Otto,

If I am reading your post correctly, it seems that you are changing the default organization, but http://crm Is not being changed to point to this organization?

i.e. you have 2 CRM organisations

    CRM_A
    CRM_B

CRM_A is the dafault, and it reached at http://crm

You change CRM_B to be the default.

http://crm still points to CRM_A (incorrectly) instead of CRM_B

I believe this is a bug in CRM 4 as I have had the same issue. I had to delete and re-create the organization in order to get it to work correctly.

  • To achieve that you will need to use the IFD tool and create corresponding DNS records mapping back to the IP of the website.

When thats done you will be able to connect to:

    crm1.domain.com

    crm2.domain.com

    etc

    Hi

DNS is not the problem here.

How does the Default setting function work in the CRM Deployment Manager?

What is the purpose of that function?

If I have multiple companies loaded to the system.... and I change the original Default company to be not default and set another company default... what does that actually do?

    Thank You

  • Dear

Default settings is the out of box solution default , first time installation settings

Use Deployment manager to create a new organization (All Programs -> Microsoft CRM -> Deployment Manager). You need to be a member of Deployment Administrators group to run this tool. The user who installed CRM is added as a member of this group automatically. Deployment manager will collect information such as name of the organization, currency settings, sql server etc and create a new organization.

    Programatically thru’ the CrmDeploymentService.asmx (http://<crmserver>/MSCRMServices/2007/CrmDeploymentService.asmx ).

Dear revevs, I am having the same problem.

First I made a clean installation of CRM 4.0, organization: CRM_A.

Then I used the 'Import Organization' and installed organization CRM_B. I set the CRM_B as the default but still CRM_A keeps appearing..

What do you mean you had to delete and recreate the organization?

Which one did you delete and recreate? A or B or both and in what order..?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Ioanna
