Windows Vista (TM) Build 6002 This copy of Windows is not genuine RRS feed

  • Question

  • Vista 32 SP2

Replaced HDD on laptop, reinstalled Vista using OEM license attached to laptop. Vista accepted and activated.

One month later received fan errors and replaced fan/heat sink assembly.

Next day received "not genuine" errors.

Used online validation and appeared successful. Used phone activation after desktop text still there and automated response stated the product was not genuine.

    MGA log below.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Again I apologize for the delay. The customer was out of town and I had no access to the laptop.

I have been informed that after several regular update and reboot cycles the desktop message has disappeared.

Please consider this issue resolved, and thank you again for your assistance.

  • Hi Noel,

I'm sorry but how is this not my own new thread?

I did not reply to anyone, but created a thread in the Vista Validation Issues page of the forum.

Sorry - glitch in my NNTP Bridge.
I can see no problems current in your report - although it does show a cached validation error of 0xc004f012
It's showing as Activated and validated.
I suggest that you go to the Validation diagnostics site, and see if that has anything to say that helps.

  • Sorry for the delay in posting an update.

I have not yet applied the suggestion posted by Noel.

I will have access to the laptop in question this week and will post on steps taken and results yielded at that time.
