my panorama size becomes small. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I shot 5 panorama pictures in raw. It stitched well and all until it is being exported. I have chose the superb quality but it turned out becomes very low in quality. Each individual picture is about 10mb but when exported became only about 1.5mb. I have chose several other format other than JPEG but still for some reason got compressed really bad.

  • Default compression options for ICE are web optimized and so give very small file sizes.  Use PNG if you can't use lossy compression.

  • i did use raw files and exported as many format possible. but still the image came up very small. anyway, now it is back to normal. i could get the normal size again. i don't know what the problem was. before this, i have used it to stitch 360 pano and it did well. only recently it acting up strangely.

  • ok, i just noticed that the reason it is working again because i imported jpeg photos. before this i used dng. that's weird. dng format should be larger. how come when i am using dng it becomes 1.5mb after exported.

  • I have the same issue. With DNG it makes small photo, but with JPG it is OK. I would like to import DNG files and make hi res panorama.

  • I'm only speculating but perhaps the ICE is only using the JPEG preview from the DNG and not the full image data.

Try using TIFF instead as this worked for me, just be prepared for significantly larger file sizes.
