  • Hello roger23541,

Before we talk about Office, can you please post back to verify what brand of computer you have?  Did you purchase the computer from a major large retailer, a smaller local retailer, or perhaps directly from the manufacturer thru mail order?  Thank you! :-)

Here is the snippet of your mgadiag report regarding Office:

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 108 Invalid VLK
Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 - 108 Invalid VLK
    OGA Version: Registered, 2.0.48.0
    Signed By: Microsoft
    Office Diagnostics: 025D1FF3-364-80041010_025D1FF3-229-80041010_025D1FF3-230-1_025D1FF3-517-80040154_025D1FF3-237-80040154_025D1FF3-238-2_025D1FF3-244-80070002_025D1FF3-258-3

The Office Enterprise 2007 installed on your computer is an edition of Office that is properly sold only thru the Volume Licensing (VL) program to businesses, educational institutions and governmental agencies.  This installation was done with an invalid Product Key made by a pirating program known as a Key Generator.  The product key was NOT issued by Microsoft, making it Invalid.

If your use of the installed Office Enterprise 2007 is in association with a business, educational institution, or governmental agency that might have a Volume Licensing Agreement (VLA) with Microsoft, please report this nongenuine problem to your organization's IT support staff for further troubleshooting and resolution.

If you are an individual consumer, you should never have been sold Volume Licensing materials such as a VL disc, and you certainly should not have received an Invalid Product Key.  Quite often people purchase what is advertised and packaged as a retail license for Office Enterprise 2007, but since there is no such thing as a full packaged product for Office Enterprise 2007, the product they receive is a counterfeit Office package that installs a nongenuine copy of Office Enterprise 2007.  This would seem to be the situation in your case.

Your first course of action is to confront your seller with this information and demand a full refund.  If the seller refuses to help, please pursue whatever remedies are available to you thru the selling venue, your payment method (credit card, PayPal, etc), or the legal system in your area.

Also, depending upon whether you received "high quality" counterfeit materials, you may qualify for the Office Complimentary Offer or for the Office Genuine Advantage discounted offer.  Please see the FAQ here:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en#ID0EKNAC  If you decide to participate in the Office Genuine Offer, please initiate the process by clicking on the "Learn More Online" link shown in the nongenuine notices on your screen.

One other possibility is that at one time your computer did have a Genuine installation of Office installed, but for some reason it was replaced with the current installation which is nongenuine.  This could have happened if you took your computer to a repair shop and they reinstalled Windows and/or some or all of your programs.  You Get Genuine once again by uninstalling the current nongenuine installations of Office and using your Genuine Microsoft hologrammed Office installation CDs, along with the genuine Product Key found on your Office Edition's Certificate of Authenticity, to put back the genuine installation of Office you may have already had on the computer.

  • Hello roger23541,

My apologies for posting a response that was not as clear as I wanted it to be :-)

When you run the online diagnostic, the results of which you copied to your first post as below...

    Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Results

    Passed Active scripting allowed
    Passed Display images enabled
Passed Computer time and date correct
    Passed Cookies enabled
    Passed ActiveX enabled
    Passed Windows validation ActiveX loaded

    Passed Validation Self-help ActiveX loaded

...if there is a problem the diagnostic will show an error message with a code along the lines of 0x80045005 or similar.  If it is a problem that the diagnostic can fix, it will provide a button for you to click on to execute the fix.  Did you see anything along those lines?

Next, please follow these directions to download and run a different diagnostic, then post the results in a reply:

  • Hello roger23541,

You wrote, "The computer has no name it was put together by a seller on Ebay,..."

OK, that explains a lot.  When the seller built the computer, they not only used a piratd version of Office, they also used a crack to install a Dell license for Windows Vista.  The Product Key used to install Vista on your computer is one that is normally used exclusively by Dell.

So both your Office and Windows are pirated installations.  Rather than use pirated software, I would suggest that you either purchase legitimate copies of Windows and Office from a trusted local or major online reseller, or replace the pirated installations of Windows with open source free software, such as Ubuntu Linus and Open Office.  It's likely the pirated software has embedded malware---the open source stuff (if downloaded from legitimate distribution sites) will not.

You wrote, "I only use the word part of office so will look for a word only download."  Microsoft Office software such as Word cannot legitimately be downloaded and used for free.  Again, it's better to use open source software than to use downloaded pirated Microsoft software, IMO.
