From topology to topology to topology RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been tasked with the following (Windows Server 2003 forest functional level infrastructure):
    1) Create an internal consolidated topology (one SE server behind firewall)
    2) After a few weeks, expand this to a Direct Federation topology to communicate with other end of forest trust that has LCS 2005 SP1
    3) After a few months, my domain will be merged into the other forest and it will become an OCS consolidated topology again (move our OCS server there, bring down our Access Edge servers, and transition users from LCS 2005 to OCS 2007

I have setup an OCS consolidated before, but I want to make sure I put the right pieces in place so when i need to make the topology changes, I am all set.  The confusing part for me is what becomes of my internal CA server, what SIP domains must be created now, etc.
