Windows 7 validation problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have recently got a message box popping up when I open up Word or other applications saying my version of Windows 7 is non-genuine. I bought the software package in Thailand about 4 or 5 months ago and as far as I am aware it is genuine. However, I am not sure if it was fully validated over there before I came back to UK. Can someone please interpret the Diagnostic Report below into ordinary English and let me know what I should do next.

    Thanks

  • Your windows premium is activated with a system builder key, and looks to be genuine. The notification for windows will be in the task tray, and also reflected in MSE or when you open programs such as notepad or wordpad, functionality will not be reduced. However, if you recieve the notifications in word then it may be word that is non-genuine and your report reflects that this is the case. Please start another thread in the office forum, link provided.

There is however a potential serious problem that will lead to a non-genuine problem in the future. At some point someone installed a loader to emulate the OEM SLP activation for HP/compaq computers.

    SLIC   HPQOEM  SLIC-MPC

I can provide instructions on how to remove a loader HOWEVER, I suggest you perform a clean installation and activation using your system builder key if you have any doubts about the source of the installation media or suspect that someone had the oportunity to install not only the loader but other programs/files that can compromise your computers security.

Windows notification mode can be intermittant, if you beleive that you are also recieving windows notifications uninstall the word product and see if the notifications go away, however I can't stress enough the importance of removing the loader manually or through a clean install.

What is a loader: A loader is a file that resides on your hard drive, when the computer boots it actually boots to this file and not windows, this file places the SLP marker in memory and then instructs the computer to continue booting to windows. The SLP marker is code that must be present in the bios for windows OEM_SLP activation to work and it must match OEM configuration data that is written into a file provided by the OEM. Finaly, this must then correspond with an SLP product key.

Unfortunately, your Office Enterprise installation is based on a blocked Volume License Key.
Office Enterprise is a product which is not available for sale to the general public - it's only sold in bulk to organisations for use on their own machines.
You would appear to have been sold a counterfeit copy of Office.
