I have just recently come across the 55% off (72-) exams and was curious what purpose those exams actually serve. I have looked all over the Internet for answer and couldn't even locate WHAT is tested in some of them, let alone what they are applicable
towards. I have an interest in the MCDST and see on the student certification site that I can take 72-271,272,620,621,622,623 under said discount. But I have no idea what that would accomplish and need some clarification. Mainly, what are these exams,
how do they apply to a certification (if they are applicable at all), why I should/should not take these over the standard certification exams (aside from the discount). I appreciate the assistance in this matter and hope you all can provide some clarity for
me.

To apply this student discount, you have to enter the 72 code instead of the 70 code of the exam. this is the identifier for this discount 72-516 for 70-516. Both are the same, in content and quality, the only difference is the price. you can use
70-516 or 72-516 as prerequisite of MCPD exam. There is not any MCPD student discount version at least for 70-519 Web Developer.
