Workflow only show related entities CRM 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

Hope sombody can help me as I can't find any other article on the internet discussing the same problem.(or I'm looking wrong)

We have CRM 2011 on premise all the latest updates on it and everything is working except I want ot create a workflow for the "Quote Product" entity but all I get to see is the "related entities" see picture.

When I look in the "record field change" to trigger the workflow I see the entities I want to change so I know I'm in the correct entity.

Any suggestion would be helpfull as I really need a workflow on that page.

  • Hi Raymond,

Not sure if you can update the QuoteProduct record from the workflow as it is "out of the box", but since you are using CRM 2011 On Premise you have two options:

    1. Create a custom workflow activity and add the activity as an step to update the record.
    2. Create a plugin and register it on the QuoteProduct Create event.

    I hope this helps.

    Frank

  • Hi,

You can not update the QuoteProduct entity and other entities i.e. OrderProduct etc. via standard workflow functionality, you can develop a custom workflow activity assembly to update the QuoteEntity product and pass all required paramters as input paramters. For developing a custom workflow assembly you may refer: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg309745.aspx

  • Hi Frank and Jebanzeb,

Thanks for the reply as that would explain it. We had it available in CRM 4.0 that is why I presumed it was also available in 2011.

So will start working on the custom workflow.
