Help with DOS command

    Question

  • I need help with a DOS command.  It is supposed to create an htlm file listing all the Windows OS patches.

The command I was given is supposed to look like this but I get an error:

    wmic qfe list brief /format:htable > C:\users\fd98tb1\desktop\hotfix.html

    the response is

Invalid format specified (or) format not applicable for this alias

    What is the correct format?

  • One Question: Why are you still working with MS-DOS?

    It is more then out-dated!

  • Hello,

I have no problem running your version.

However, I agree with Thomas - you should switch away from dos commands :)

    I'd do it in PowerShell:

    Get-WmiObject win32_QuickFixEngineering |select PSComputerName, Description, FixComments, HotFixID, InstalledBy, InstalledOn |ConvertTo-Html |Out-File C:\users\fd98tb1\desktop\hotfix.html

The good thing with PowerShell is that you can post in the Windows PowerShell forum.
